Textile Owl Sculpture

Two Day Workshop

This workshop offers you the chance to work with Bryony, exploring her techniques and processes, in order to make your own Textile Owl Sculpture. A two day workshop allows you the time to create your sculpture at an easier pace, and gives you the opportunity to add the little details that will infuse your work with character.

In a unique approach to sculpting, we will create a form, adding layers of fabric with stitch. We use wire armature where necessary to create strength and poise.

As our Owls take shape, the magic starts to happen, and a personality begins to emerge. We can experiment with different methods of design, to build character and suggest expression using innovative sewing and wire working techniques.

Fabric, Wire and all the necessary tools are provided, but it is always nice to bring along your own selection of treasured fabrics and objects to personalise your sculpture.

Owl creation is a fiddly business, and involves a lot of hand sewing – patience and perseverance is necessary!

Students rarely fully complete their work within the duration of the course, but you will go home with a fully formed bird and the knowledge needed to finish your work at your own pace.

The workshop runs from 10 am – 4.30 pm each day with an hours lunch break.

Located in The Hoot Suite at The Barn Emporium, Durleighmarsh Farm.
